Poll: Only 27% of Adults in the U.S. Oppose Legalizing Marijuana

According to newly released polling, a solid 57% of adults in the United States support legalizing marijuana, with just 27% opposed to the idea.

The YouGov America poll consisted of over 40,000 participants across the United States, all aged 18 or older. 57% said that “the recreational use of marijuana should be made legal in the United States,” with just 27% saying they oppose the idea. The remaining 16% are undecided.

Unsurprisingly, the poll found support to be strongest among Democrats (70%), and those between the ages of 25 and 44 years old (62%). Independents were far behind, with 61% in support.

Republicans were less enthusiastic on the idea, with a slight plurality saying they oppose legalization (44%), while 40% say they support it.
