Florida now has 930,093 registered medical marijuana patients as of October 20, according to new data released by the state’s Department of Health.
The figure marks an increase of more than 6,000 patients since last month and nearly 30,000 more than were enrolled at the start of 2025. Last October, there were 882,438 total patients.
Florida continues to operate the largest medical-only marijuana market in the United States, averaging around $150 million in sales each month. Registered patients can purchase flower, concentrates, tinctures, topicals, edibles, and other products from hundreds of licensed dispensaries across the state, provided they have a recommendation from a qualified physician.
Even without recreational sales, Florida consistently reports higher monthly marijuana sales than almost any other state, ranking behind only California, Michigan, and Illinois. The program was created following a constitutional amendment passed by 71% of voters in 2016.
As of the end of September, the state’s medical cannabis market has generated more than $1.28 billion in sales in 2025.
Meanwhile, legalization advocates are pushing to expand access further. Smart & Safe Florida is working to qualify an adult-use marijuana measure for the 2026 ballot and has already collected more than 660,000 valid signatures—about three-quarters of the 880,062 required to appear before voters, and has raised over $25 million, mostly from Trulieve.
