Majority of Delaware House Votes to Legalize Marijuana

A legislative proposal to legalize marijuana in Delaware received a majority vote in the House of Representatives today, but failed to advance given it needed 60% support.

With 58% voting in favor, Delaware’s House narrowly rejected a bill to make the possession of up to an ounce of marijuana legal for those 21 and older. House Bill 110 would also allow for the possession of up to five grams of marijuana oil.

Although HB 110 wouldn’t allow marijuana to be grown for personal use, it would allow licensed marijuana stores to sell the substance to anyone 21+, with marijuana taxed at $50 per ounce for flower and $15 per ounce for leaves/trimmings.

The Delaware House’s final vote on HB 110 was 21 to 15.
