Legal marijuana sales in Michigan totaled over $272 million in May, according to a report released by the Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA), bringing year-to-date sales to $1,327,428,076.88.

May’s sales figure includes $553,000 in medical marijuana sales and $272 million from the adult-use market.

Adult-use flower remained the top-selling product, generating nearly $118 million in sales. Other popular items included vape cartridges ($49 million), inhalable concentrates ($44 million), and infused edibles ($24 million). In total, 617,538 pounds of product and 2.7 million fluid ounces were sold in the recreational market during the month. The average retail price for an ounce of flower was $63.17.

Sales through home delivery services for adult-use products reached $3.8 million, with 347 retailers approved to offer the service.

Medical marijuana sales continued to decline, with just $553,000 in revenue across all product types. Flower accounted for the largest share at $177,000, and only 75 provisioning centers were authorized to provide delivery.

Michigan’s cannabis workforce stood at 38,827 employees by the end of May, supporting more than 2,200 active adult-use licenses. Of these, 847 were retailers and 836 were Class C growers.

The state collected over $8.9 million in marijuana licensing revenue in May, while industry-related expenses topped $3.3 million. Investigations into licensee conduct resulted in 187 enforcement actions and 393 notices of non-compliance.

Since launching adult-use sales in December 2019, Michigan’s total sales have surpassed $11.5 billion, solidifying the state’s position as one of the nation’s largest legal marijuana markets.
