Over 30 Organizations, Including SEIU, Endorse Descheduling Cannabis Nationwide

A legislative effort to deschedule cannabis, effectively ending cannabis prohibition nationwide, has drawn support from a wide-ranging coalition of advocacy, labor, civil rights, and policy organizations.

The legislation, filed yesterday, would allow states to determine their own cannabis policies, while decriminalizing it on the federal level. The proposal would also allow for the expungement of prior convictions.

Among the endorsers are more than 30 organizations representing various constituencies, including the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the American Civil Liberties Union, the Southern Poverty Law Center, Drug Policy Alliance, and the Center for American Progress.
