Vireo Growth Inc. has officially launched adult-use marijuana sales in Minnesota across eight outlets, marking a historic milestone for the company and the state’s new recreational market.
On September 16, Vireo completed its first adult-use sale at its downtown Minneapolis Green Goods dispensary.
The company now offers both medical and adult-use products across all eight of its Green Goods locations, including dispensaries in Minneapolis, Blaine, Bloomington, Burnsville, Duluth, Moorhead, Rochester, and Woodbury. Vireo has been a fixture in Minnesota’s medical marijuana program since 2014, serving tens of thousands of patients with flower, pre-rolls, edibles, beverages, and other products.
Amber Shimpa, President of Vireo, said the launch reflects the company’s long-term vision. “As a Minnesota company founded with a long-term vision for cannabis, we are proud to begin making our products available to all Minnesotans. We will always remain committed to our medical patients and product portfolio as we have for over 10 years, and look forward to this new opportunity to serve adult-use customers with the same standard of quality and care.”
Alexandra Breant, Head of Market in Minnesota, called it “a historic day for our team,” noting preparations have been underway since 2023. She said the expansion is about more than access, emphasizing community and inclusion as the market grows.
With a population of 5.7 million, Minnesota is expected to become a significant adult-use market, and Vireo is positioning itself to capture growth as one of the state’s licensed cultivators and retailers. The move represents a major step forward for Vireo, which began in Minnesota’s medical program and is now expanding alongside the state’s broader legalization efforts.
