Maine’s recreational marijuana industry continues to flourish, with $185,818,709 in sales recorded through the first nine months of 2025, despite prices reaching record lows.
According to data from the state’s Office of Cannabis Policy, licensed adult-use marijuana retailers sold $21.2 million worth of products in September. That figure came from 425,302 transactions, at an average price of $6.50 per gram of flower (tying the record low set in August). Of that total, $12,389,540 came from sales of usable cannabis such as dried flower, $6,420,342 from concentrates, and $3,179,518 from infused products including edibles and topicals.
For the year to date, total sales have reached $185,818,709 across 3,639,095 transactions. The average price per gram of bud or flower over that period is $6.71. This year’s totals are nearly identical to the $183,209,598 sold during the same period in 2024, though last year saw roughly 200,000 more transactions and slightly higher average prices.
These numbers demonstrate the continued strength of Maine’s legal cannabis market, which launched in October 2020 after voters approved legalization in 2016. Under state law, adults 21 and older can purchase marijuana products at licensed retailers and may possess up to 2.5 ounces, including no more than 5 grams of concentrates.
