Vermont Marijuana Sales Hit Record High in August, Year-to-Date Totals Climb

Vermont marijuana sales surged to a new monthly record in August, with taxable sales reaching $13.64 million and generating $1.91 million in excise taxes.

The August figure marks the highest month of cannabis sales since the launch of Vermont’s regulated market, edging past July’s $13.22 million.

The August milestone caps off a year of steady growth for Vermont’s cannabis industry. From January through August, taxable marijuana sales totaled just over $98 million, producing $13.74 million in excise tax revenue for the state. This is a roughly 6% increase over the $92 million in taxable sales during the same period in 2024.

The latest data show that Vermont’s cannabis market is continuing to build momentum, despite some seasonal dips earlier in the year. Sales have climbed in five of the past seven months, and August’s record demonstrates strong consumer demand heading into the fall. With more than $13 million in sales for two consecutive months, Vermont’s industry is entering a new phase of maturity marked by consistent, record-breaking growth.
