Massachusetts Marijuana Sales Top $562 Million in 2026 as All-Time Total Nears $11 Billion

Massachusetts marijuana retailers have sold more than $562 million worth of products so far in 2026, as the state’s legal market continues to approach $11 billion in all-time sales.

Through April 26, adult-use marijuana stores reported approximately $516.8 million in sales, while medical marijuana treatment centers reported $45.8 million in year-to-date sales to patients and caregivers. Combined, the two markets have generated about $562.6 million in sales so far this year, according to data released by the Cannabis Control Commission.

Adult-use sales totaled $135.5 million in January, followed by $124.4 million in February, $136 million in March and $120.9 million through April 26. Medical marijuana sales have remained much smaller, with $12 million in January, $11 million in February, $12 million in March and $10.7 million through April 26.

The latest figures bring Massachusetts’ all-time marijuana sales total to roughly $11 billion. Adult-use sales account for about $9.37 billion of that total, while medical marijuana sales account for approximately $1.6 billion.

The milestone comes as marijuana prices in the state continue to fall. The average price per gram of dried flower is now $4, marking a new all-time low for Massachusetts’ legal market.

Massachusetts launched adult-use marijuana sales in November 2018, becoming the first state on the East Coast to open licensed recreational stores. Adults 21 and older may possess up to one ounce of marijuana in public and up to 10 ounces at home. Retail marijuana sales are subject to a 10.75% state excise tax, the 6.25% state sales tax and a local tax of up to 3%.
