Scary Movie Unveils Cannabis Dab Rig-Style Popcorn Buckets

The new Scary Movie is leaning into marijuana culture with one of the strangest theater collectibles yet: a popcorn bucket designed to look like a glass dab rig.

The film’s official Instagram account posted a video of the collectible Wednesday, showing several glass-style pieces filled with popcorn and marked with the Scary Movie logo. The video declares, “The popcorn bucket theatres were never ready for,” before showing different versions of the rig-inspired design. The post was captioned, “y’all weren’t ready.”

The design fits the franchise’s long-running connection to marijuana humor, with Marlon Wayans returning as Shorty Meeks, one of the most recognizable stoner characters from the original films.

Scary Movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters June 5 through Paramount Pictures. The film reunites Marlon Wayans as Shorty, Shawn Wayans as Ray, Anna Faris as Cindy and Regina Hall as Brenda, with Paramount describing the movie as taking place 26 years after the group first encountered Ghostface.

The new installment marks the return of the Wayans family to the franchise after more than two decades. Marlon, Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans are involved in the new movie, which is expected to parody modern horror films, reboots, legacy sequels and other genre trends.

No price or full list of participating theaters was included in the Instagram post. However, the reveal comes as studios and theater chains continue using unusual popcorn buckets as part of major movie marketing campaigns, especially for horror and franchise releases.
