California Marijuana Sales Total $346 Million in November, Over $3.8 Billion Year-to-Date

There was $346 million in marijuana and marijuana products sold in California during November.

Marijuana sales in California remained steady in November, with the $346 million in sales representing a slight 0.5% decrease compared to November 2023 and nearly identical to the $345.5 million sold last month. This is according to data released by the Seattle-based research firm Headset.

The state’s total marijuana sales for 2024 have now surpassed $3.8 billion, keeping it on track to exceed $4 billion by year’s end. These sales have resulted in over $820 million in tax revenue.

Dried marijuana flower remains the top category, followed by vape pens, prerolls, edibles and concentrates.

The average price per gram of dried marijuana flower was $9.49, or $23 per eighth. Concentrates averaged $16 per gram. Blue Dream was the most popular strain during the month.

California’s legal marijuana market includes a diverse range of products, from flower to concentrates, edibles, tinctures, and topicals. Since the legalization of marijuana in 2016 and the opening of the first recreational stores in 2018, the state continues to lead the nation in marijuana sales despite slight fluctuations in monthly totals.

Earlier this month the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration reported that the state garnered $250.5 million in cannabis tax revenue for the third quarter of 2024.
