Between August 7 and December 28, marijuana sales in Ohio have reached a total of $378,503,351. This includes $136,336,331 in medical marijuana purchases and $242,167,020 in recreational marijuana sales.

Since the launch of legal marijuana sales in Ohio, the state has recorded a cumulative total of $2,296,801,457 in sales from 21,000,446 transactions.
This milestone underscores the robust growth of Ohio’s marijuana market and highlights the significant consumer demand for both medical and recreational products in the state.
Ohio’s marijuana laws allow adults 21 and older to possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana and 15 grams of marijuana concentrates. Medical marijuana patients may carry a 90-day supply, which includes up to eight ounces of dried marijuana and 26.55 grams of concentrates. Both the medical and recreational markets are regulated by the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control.
Recreational marijuana purchases are taxed at a 10% excise rate on the retail price, in addition to Ohio’s 5.75% state sales tax. Local jurisdictions can add sales taxes, typically ranging from 0.25% to 2.25%. Medical marijuana patients are subject only to the 5.75% state sales tax and are not required to pay the excise tax.
