Maryland: $1.87 Billion in Legal Marijuana Sold So Far in Fiscal Year 2025

Maryland’s marijuana industry recorded $88,037,944 in total sales for February 2025, bringing the total for FY 2025 to above $1.8 billion, according to newly released data from the Maryland Cannabis Administration.

Of that total, adult-use sales accounted for $66 million, while medical marijuana sales made up the remaining $22 million. The total figure is nearly identical to the $89 million sold in February 2024.

The average price per gram in February remained at $9. Dried marijuana flower led sales, generating $50 million in revenue, followed by concentrates at $26.5 million and edibles at $10.5 million. The remaining sales were classified under the “other” category.

Since the start of Fiscal Year 2025, which runs from July 2024 to June 2025, Maryland has recorded approximately $1.87 billion in total marijuana sales. This includes $1.276 billion in adult-use sales and $595 million in medical marijuana sales.

Adult-use marijuana has been legal in Maryland since July 2023, following voter approval of a 2022 ballot measure. Recreational purchases are subject to a 9% state tax and up to a 3% local tax, while medical marijuana remains tax-exempt.

Revenue from marijuana taxes supports several state programs, including the Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund, public education, substance abuse prevention, and regulatory enforcement. The Maryland Cannabis Administration oversees the industry, ensuring compliance through its Division of Cannabis Regulation and Enforcement.
