The 2021 law allows those 21 and older to purchase and possess cannabis and cannabis products such as concentrates and edibles. Home cultivation is also allowed, with up to six mature plants per adult and 12 per household.

The state taxes recreational marijuana sales at a 12% excise rate, which will rise by 1% annually starting in mid-2025 until it reaches 18% in 2030. Local gross receipts taxes also apply. Medical marijuana sales remain tax-exempt.
