Study: Cannabis Extract With Equal Parts THC and CBD Reduces Chronic Pain and Improves Quality of Life

A hybrid cannabis extract with equal parts THC and CBD significantly reduced pain and improved quality of life in chronic pain patients, according to a new study conducted in Germany.

Published in the journal Advances in Therapy, the observational study followed 64 adult patients treated with Cannamedical® Hybrid Cannabis Extract THC25:CBD25 as part of standard clinical care. Patients were assessed across four visits for pain intensity, pain interference, and quality of life using validated tools such as the Brief Pain Inventory and the SF-12 questionnaire.

By the final visit, average pain scores on the Numeric Rating Scale dropped from 5.46 to 3.37 among all participants. Among those who had never previously used cannabis, pain scores declined even more dramatically—from 5.92 to 2.37. In both groups, patients also experienced a significant reduction in how pain interfered with daily life, along with improvements in both physical and mental health measures.

The study also noted high levels of satisfaction with the hybrid extract among both patients and physicians. Researchers conclude by saying “Treatment with the Cannamedical® Hybrid Cannabis Extract THC25:CBD25 in daily clinical practice showed positive effects on patients’ pain and quality of life.”
