Vermont’s legal cannabis industry brought in $46.2 million in taxable sales from January through April 2025, according to newly released data from the state’s Department of Taxes.
The total represents a 5% increase over the same four-month period in 2024, when sales totaled approximately $43.9 million.
April 2025 alone saw $11.78 million in taxable cannabis sales, a slight decrease from the $11.98 million sold in March, but up from the $11.38 million sold in April 2024.
In terms of excise tax revenue, the state collected $6.47 million over the first four months of 2025. That’s an increase from the $6.14 million collected during the same period last year.
The number of cannabis businesses filing monthly returns also grew steadily. In April 2025, 102 filers reported sales, up from 77 in April 2024. Each month of 2025 saw more filers than the corresponding month in 2024, reflecting the expansion of the state’s regulated cannabis market.
The year-to-date figures show an upward trajectory in both sales and tax revenue. This trend points to continued consumer demand and growth in Vermont’s cannabis sector as more licensed retailers enter the market.
