Canada Sets New Monthly Marijuana Sales Record in August With CA$498 Million

Canada’s legal marijuana industry set a new monthly record in August, generating CA$498 million in sales, according to newly released data from Statistics Canada.

That figure surpasses the previous record of CA$489 million set in December 2024, marking the strongest month of sales since nationwide legalization in 2018.

Ontario led all provinces with CA$197 million in sales, while Alberta reported CA$86.3 million, British Columbia reached CA$79.3 million, and Quebec recorded CA$62.1 million. Together, those four provinces accounted for more than 85% of nationwide marijuana sales in August.

Other provinces also contributed steady gains, including Manitoba at CA$19.1 million, Saskatchewan at CA$17.6 million, and Nova Scotia at CA$12.4 million. New Brunswick reported CA$9.1 million, Newfoundland and Labrador CA$10 million, and Prince Edward Island CA$2.6 million. The territories collectively added roughly CA$1.5 million.

Year-to-date sales for 2025 now exceed CA$3.6 billion, underscoring the consistent growth of the industry through the first eight months of the year. With demand continuing to rise and more than 4,200 licensed retailers operating across the country, Canada’s marijuana market is on pace for another record-setting year.
