Oregon’s legal marijuana market generated approximately $79.7 million in sales in July, bringing the state’s 2026 total to roughly $530 million through the first seven months of the year.

July sales were up about 5% from the $75.6 million recorded in June and were essentially unchanged from July 2025, when sales totaled approximately $79.7 million. The July total is also the highest monthly figure reported since August 2025.

Through June, Oregon retailers had generated $450.2 million in sales for the year. Adding July brings the year-to-date total to approximately $529.9 million. Legal marijuana sales since the launch of Oregon’s regulated market have now surpassed $8.64 billion.

The Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission (OLCC) says its sales data comes from Metrc, the state’s Cannabis Tracking System, and includes purchases made from licensed retailers by both recreational consumers and Oregon Medical Marijuana Program patients. The figures are updated monthly.

Oregon’s market has remained relatively stable in recent months despite marijuana prices remaining near historic lows. Sales have ranged from about $69 million to nearly $80 million each month in 2026, with February posting the lowest total and July the highest.

Oregon voters legalized recreational marijuana in November 2014 through Measure 91, with the first legal adult-use sales beginning Oct. 1, 2015, through existing medical marijuana dispensaries. The state later transitioned to its regulated licensing system for adult-use marijuana businesses.

Under Oregon law, adults 21 and older may possess up to 2 ounces of marijuana in public and up to 8 ounces at home. Recreational marijuana purchases are subject to a 17% state tax, while local governments can impose an additional tax of up to 3%.
