Illinois marijuana sales in June were roughly $6 million higher than the month prior.
Sales data gathered and released by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation shows that there was $136.4 million in marijuana as well as marijuana products sold in June. Marijuana products includes everything from marijuana oil and hash to topicals (ointments, lotions, etc.) and edibles.
The $136.4 million is an almost 5% increase over the sales total for May, and an 8% increase from the total amount of marijuana sold in June, 2022.
June marks the highest amount of marijuana sales this year.
In Illinois marijuana was legalized for those 21 and older in 2019, with the first marijuana store opening the following year. The possession limit for residents is 30 grams of cannabis flower, five grams of cannabis concentrate and no more than 500 milligrams of THC contained in a cannabis-infused product.
The possession limit for non-Illinois residents is 15 grams of cannabis flower, 2.5 grams of cannabis no more than 250 milligrams of THC contained in a cannabis-infused products.
In 2022 there was $1,552,324,820 in marijuana and marijuana products legally sold in Illinois, a 12% increase from 2021 and a 131% increase from 2020.
Last month Governor J. B. Pritzker signed into law legislation that allows marijuana businesses that are legal under state law to take standard state-level tax deductions.
