Vice President Harris Publishes First Video on Marijuana Rescheduling, Thanks Advocates

Vice President Kamala Harris has released her first video on the marijuana rescheduling news.

“So currently, marijuana is classified on the same level as heroin and more dangerous than fentanyl”, Vice President Harris says in the video, published on the social media platform X.com. “We are finally changing that. I want to thank all of the advocates and everyone out there for helping to make this possible.”

Harris says “we are on the road to getting it done.”

Accompanying the video is a statement from Harris saying “President Biden and I vowed to address injustices in marijuana policy. Today, our Administration takes another major step forward.”

The video, which can be found below, was published roughly 10 minutes after President Biden posted a video announcing marijuana’s forthcoming move from Schedule I to Schedule III. It’s expected that the Department of Justice will publish the official proposed rules today in the Federal Register, which will start a 60-day public comment period.

In March VP Harris made it clear that while she support rescheduling marijuana, she also believes “we need to legalize marijuana”. This makes her the only vice president in US history to publicly support marijuana legalization.
