The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control has proposed a set of rule changes that, if approved, would allow the sale of pre-rolled marijuana products in the state.
The proposed regulations include the sale of both raw and infused pre-rolls, as well as flavored pre-prerolls. The process for approval requires multiple steps. First, the lieutenant governor must sign off on the proposed changes, which. Afterward, a panel of state legislators will review and decide on the rules. While no deadline has been set for this process, stakeholders in the state’s marijuana industry, as well as marijuana consumers, are eager to see these changes implemented.
The Division of Cannabis Control stated that the proposed rules are modeled after regulations in other states and reflect feedback from the public. These changes are viewed as a way to enhance Ohio’s competitiveness in the marijuana market, particularly against neighboring Michigan, where pre-rolled products are already permitted. Of the 23 states that allow licensed marijuana sales, nearly all of them allow the sale of pre-rolls.
Since the start of recreational marijuana sales on August 7, Ohio has seen $338 million in sales as of December 16. The state’s all-time total for legal marijuana sales, including both recreational and medical markets, now stands at $2,257,006,868 across 20,507,180 transactions, showcasing the growing demand for regulated cannabis products.
