Marijuana Drive-Thru Opens in Ohio

A marijuana drive-thru is now open in Mount Carmel.

Last week the medical marijuana dispensary The Forest opened the the first marijuana drive-thru in southwest Ohio, located at Mount Carmel (4412 Mount Carmel Tobasco Road). The dispensary allows patients to preorder marijuana and marijuana products online, which they can then pickup and purchase by using the drive-thru or coming inside.

Despite medical marijuana being legal in 39 states and recreational marijuana being legal in 23 states, only a few allow marijuana to be sold via drive-thru.

The forest is one of just 17 dispensaries in Southwest Ohio.

In November voters will consider an initiative that would legalize recreational marijuana statewide. If passed into law, the proposal would legalize the possession of up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana and up to 15 grams of marijuana concentrates, for those who are at least 21 years old. The proposal would also allow for the personal cultivation of up to six marijuana plants, and it would establish a system of licensed marijuana businesses.

Polling released in July found that 58.6% of Ohio adults say they support legalizing recreational marijuana, with 35% opposed and 6% undecided.

According to a recently released report, the state could gain up to $403 million in new tax revenue from the legal distribution of marijuana and marijuana products to those 21 and older.
