Located at 91 Bingo Loop Rd in Cherokee, on the tribal land of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, The Great Smoky Cannabis Company opened to everyone 21 and older on September 7. Since then, the store has drawn thousands of patrons, offering a variety of marijuana products, including dried flower and preolls, concentrates like wax and live resin, topicals like body cream and pain salves, and a variety of edibles including hard candies, gummies, cookies, chocolate bars, brownies, krispy treats, and drinkable shots.

The Great Smoky Cannabis Company is one of the largest marijuana stores in the United States. It’s the home of a former bingo hall that cost $50 million to renovate. The store first opened on April 20, but was only accessible by tribal members. On July 4, the store opened for recreational consumers, but remained exclusive to tribal members. As of September 7, anyone 21 and older, regardless of their tribal or medical status, can enter the store and make purchases.

Before the store opened, many in the community feared police would set up checkpoints outside tribal land or stop and search individuals that go into the Great Smoky Cannabis Company and then leave tribal land. Despite these concerns, not a single arrest related to store purchases have been reported.
