Medical marijuana sales in Arkansas remained strong in November.
According to data released by the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, there was $24 million worth of medical marijuana sold in November, despite the state having just 37 dispensaries. This comes out to an average of around $650,000 per dispensary.
The year-to-date total for marijuana sales is now $251.9 million, roughly on part with but slightly less than the $258 million sold between January and November 2023.
Despite the modest dip in revenue, patients purchased 68,877 pounds of medical marijuana in 2024, an increase attributed to lower product prices. The state’s dispensaries sold 6,759 pounds in November alone, with Suite 443 in Hot Springs leading sales for the month at over 746 pounds.
Medical marijuana taxes have generated $28.5 million this year, bringing the total tax revenue since the program’s inception to nearly $150 million. There are currently 109,095 active medical marijuana patients in Arkansas, a state of around three million. This is up from 97,374 at the start of the year.
Earlier this year the nonprofit group Arkansans for Patient Access successfully placed an initiative on the November ballot which would have significantly expanded the state’s medical marijuana program. However, in October the state’s Supreme Court ruled that votes for the measure would not be counted due to concerns about the initiative’s wording.
