Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has announced pardons for eight individuals charged with marijuana-related offenses.
Via the introduction of Senate Bill 3007, which was filed this week and read yesterday in the House of Representatives, Governor Healey announced pardons for the following individuals:
- Richard Barnes
- Mynor-Dean Martino Boland
- Kenny Jean
- David Palazzo
- Kira Pareseau
- Danis Reyes
- Anthony Tindal
- Robert Tober
All eight were convicted on or before March 13, 2024 of the following nonjuvenile offenses: the misdemeanor of possession of marijuana; the misdemeanor of attempted possession of marijuana; or the misdemeanor of conspiracy to possess marijuana.
Senate Bill 3007 mentions that “No pardons were revoked during calendar year 2024.”
Massachusetts legalized marijuana in 2016, allowing adults 21 and older to possess up to one ounce and cultivate up to six plants for personal use. The state’s first licensed marijuana store opened in November 2018. In November of this year alone, there was over $150 million worth of marijuana products sold legally.
