Maryland’s marijuana industry recorded $98,001,029 in total sales for March 2025, according to new data released by the Maryland Cannabis Administration.
Of that amount, $56.3 million came from dried marijuana flower, $29 million from concentrates, and $12 million from edibles. The average price per gram in March was $8.72, a drop from the $9 average in February.
The March figure brings the total marijuana sales for January, February, and March 2025 combined to $280,583,815, including $213 million in adult-use sales.
The $98 million in cannabis sales in March marks a slight increase over the $95.9 million sold in March 2024.
In Maryland, adult-use marijuana remains subject to a 9% state tax and up to a 3% local tax, while medical marijuana purchases are tax-exempt. Based on this, the state has made around $20 million in tax revenue from cannabis sales so far this year.
Recreational marijuana sales in Maryland officially began in July 2023, following voter approval of a 2022 legalization initiative. Revenue from marijuana taxes is distributed to programs such as the Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund, public education, substance use prevention, and regulatory enforcement. The Maryland Cannabis Administration regulates the industry and ensures compliance statewide.
