Three Men Sentenced After Police Discover Scotland’s Largest-Ever Cannabis Cultivation Site

Three men have been sentenced following the discovery of what authorities say is the largest cannabis cultivation operation ever found in Scotland.

At the High Court in Edinburgh on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Antonjo Selami, 38, received a prison sentence of three years and nine months for being concerned in the production of a controlled drug. Two others—Auriel Xhoka, 33, and Glendian Daci, 26—were given identical sentences on Thursday, December 12, 2024, also at the High Court.

The case stems from a police raid conducted on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Officers, acting on intelligence, searched a disused retail unit on West Stewart Street in Greenock. Inside, they uncovered a highly sophisticated marijuana grow operation valued at up to £3.6 million.

The setup spanned two large grow rooms containing around 6,000 cannabis plants, complete with industrial lighting, heating, and an irrigation system. All three men were arrested and later charged in connection with the seizure.

Detective Inspector Gordon Smith stated the bust would significantly disrupt the supply of cannabis in Scotland, adding, “I hope that this sentencing sends a clear message to anyone involved in the production and supply of illegal drugs that we will use all resources at our disposal to track you down and ensure you face the consequences.”

He emphasized Police Scotland’s ongoing commitment to tackling serious and organized crime and urged the public to report any drug-related activity in their communities.
