19-Year-Old British Woman Faces Life Sentence in Georgia for Cannabis

A 19-year-old woman from the United Kingdom has been arrested in Georgia after authorities at Tbilisi International Airport allegedly found over 14 kilograms of marijuana and hashish in her luggage. She now faces life in prison.

Following the arrest police found 34 sealed packages containing marijuana as well as 20 packages of hashish.

According to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the woman, identified as B.K., was detained after security personnel flagged her bag as suspicious during a routine scanner check. Upon inspection, police reportedly discovered 34 sealed packages of marijuana and 20 packages of hashish, totaling approximately 12 kilograms of marijuana and 2.1 kilograms of hashish.

The ministry stated that B.K. is charged with illegally purchasing and storing a particularly large quantity of narcotics, as well as importing them into Georgia. If convicted, she could face up to 20 years in prison or even a life sentence under the country’s strict drug trafficking laws.

Footage released by Georgian authorities shows the woman handcuffed following her arrest at the airport. Her point of origin has not been disclosed by officials.

The case is currently under investigation by the Central Criminal Police Department in Tbilisi.
