During a recent segment of CNBC’s Mad Money, host Jim Cramer gave a cautiously optimistic take on Aurora Cannabis, calling it “a nice speculative stock.”
Cramer made the comments in response to a viewer named Eric from New York, who called in saying: “My question, ECB Aurora Cannabis.” Cramer replied:
“You know I keep thinking that it has to come alive, right? And the stock is up a lot. Here’s what I say—you know what… I’m not fighting it, I’m not fighting it. You can own it. It’s a nice speculative stock. There, I said it!”
Jim Cramer is a longtime television personality and former hedge fund manager known for offering stock picks and market analysis on Mad Money, which has aired on CNBC since 2005.
Aurora Cannabis, traded on the Nasdaq under the symbol ACB, is one of the larger Canadian marijuana producers. The company operates facilities in Canada and Europe and was once considered a top player in the global cannabis space. Although its stock has struggled in recent years, a recent uptick in value appears to have caught Cramer’s attention.
While Cramer’s endorsement stops short of a strong buy recommendation, it does suggest Aurora may have regained some investor confidence—at least enough to warrant a speculative spot in one’s portfolio.
