Republicans Defeat Democrats 13 to 2 in Annual Congressional Baseball Game, Extending Winning Streak

Republicans defeated Democrats 13 to 2 in Wednesday’s Congressional Baseball Game, marking their fifth straight victory in the long-running charity matchup.

The annual game, held at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., brought lawmakers together for an evening of competition—and in the case of Democrats, frustration. The GOP’s dominant win follows last year’s 31 to 10 blowout.

Democrats once held a firm grip on the series, winning all but one game between 2009 and 2019. But since then, the tables have turned. Republicans have claimed every game since 2020, building momentum with each passing year and showing no signs of slowing down.

The event, first held in 1909, raises money for local charities including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and the Washington Literacy Center. While the game is known for its bipartisan spirit, the lopsided scoreboard in recent years has added a competitive edge to what was once a more evenly matched tradition.

With another win in the books, Republicans will head into 2026 aiming for a sixth straight victory, while Democrats are left to regroup and break their five-year skid.

Over 30,000 people bought tickets for tonight’s event, raising nearly $3 million for charity, both records.
