U.S. marijuana sales remained strong in July, with licensed markets bringing in roughly $2.3 billion for the month, according to an analysis conducted by The Marijuana Herald.
The total keeps 2025 on pace for another record year, pushing year-to-date sales to more than $15 billion. The $2.3 billion in July sales marks a roughly 5% increase over the $2.17 billion sold in June.
In July, California topped the charts with $310 million, followed by Michigan at $274 million, Illinois at $165 million, New York at $148 million, and Massachusetts at $145 million. The data reflects states with established recreational markets, along with medical-only sales in Florida, Arkansas and Oklahoma. All sales figures were provided by either state regulatory agencies and cannabis commissions, or the research firm Headset.
These figures do not yet include Delaware, where recreational sales began August 1, or Minnesota, which is expected to launch its market soon. Alaska and most other medical-only states are also excluded due to insufficient reporting.
