Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Sales Top $55 Million in July, Bringing Year-to-Date Total to Nearly $400 Million

Oklahoma’s medical marijuana program brought in $3,895,089 in excise tax revenue in July, according to newly released data from the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority.

With the state’s 7% tax rate, this figure translates to approximately $55.64 million in medical marijuana sales for the month, bringing the year-to-date total to around $392 million.

Oklahoma continues to rank among the largest medical-only marijuana markets in the country, second only to Florida. Sales have remained consistent despite a drop in registered patients over the past year, supported by the state’s high number of dispensaries and its comparatively relaxed regulatory environment since voters passed State Question 788 in 2018.

All marijuana excise tax revenue is deposited into Oklahoma’s General Revenue Fund, where it helps finance essential government services.

Meanwhile, advocates for recreational marijuana legalization officially launched a signature-gathering campaign last week for a proposed 2026 ballot initiative. The measure would allow adults 21 and older to legally purchase marijuana from licensed retailers without a medical card.
