November marijuana sales were over $164 million in Illinois.
There was $164.7 million in marijuana purchased through legal outlets in November, according to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. These numbers are very similar to the $164.9 million in marijuana sales in October.
Recreational marijuana sales actually saw a slight uptick between October and November, increasing to $139.1 million from $138.7 million. Medical marijuana sales, on the other hand, decreased slightly from $26.2 million to $25.6 million.
Of the $139.1 million in recreational (“adult use”) marijuana sales for November, $33.6 million was purchased by those visiting from outside the state, on par with the $33.8 million for October.
“Usable Marijuana” (dried flower) represented the most purchased category at $80.1 million, followed by marijuana extracts meant for inhalation (wax, shatter, etc.) at $53.9 million, and solid marijuana infused edibles at $22.1 million.
The average price per gram of recreational marijuana in November was was $9, beating the all-time low of $9.63 set in October.
Year-to-date sales for legal marijuana in Illinois now stands at $1.77 billion.
In Illinois, marijuana was legalized in 2019, with the possession limit set at 30 grams of cannabis flower, five grams of cannabis concentrate and no more than 500 milligrams of THC contained in a cannabis-infused product for residents, and 15 grams of cannabis flower, 2.5 grams of cannabis no more than 250 milligrams of THC contained in a cannabis-infused products for non-residents.
According to a recent report, Illinois has the third largest cannabis market in the country, but it also has some of the highest prices.
