The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) has partnered with Green Flower, a leading cannabis education provider, to launch five online certificate programs aimed at preparing individuals for careers in the rapidly expanding marijuana industry.
These programs, which span six months, are designed to be completed entirely online, allowing participants to balance their education with other commitments.
The available certificate programs include:
- Cannabis Healthcare and Medicine: Focused on the medicinal properties of cannabis, this program equips healthcare and retail professionals with in-depth knowledge to guide patients and consumers.
- Cannabis Agriculture and Horticulture: This course offers hands-on insights into cannabis cultivation, covering genetics, pest management, and sustainable practices for both indoor and outdoor growing.
- The Business of Cannabis: Participants gain a comprehensive understanding of the cannabis industry, including retail, marketing, and real estate.
- Cannabis Compliance and Risk Management: This program delves into cannabis regulations, licensing, and best practices for compliance and security.
- Cannabis Product Development and Design: Students learn the science of cannabis extraction and the creation of various products such as edibles and tinctures.
The programs, all costing $325 per month, also provide participants with several career-enhancing benefits. Graduates receive a certificate of completion and a digital credential issued through Credly, which can be showcased on LinkedIn and other platforms.
Additionally, graduates gain access to the GF Institute Employer Network and improved rankings for relevant job openings on CareersinCannabis.com.
UIS emphasizes the flexibility of these programs, enabling participants to study on their own schedule. The first classes of 2025 are already underway, but registration remains open until January 13. For more details and enrollment options, visit the UIS website.
