New Mexico Marijuana Sales Reach $286 Million in 2025, Nearly $1.8 Billion All-Time

Licensed marijuana stores in New Mexico sold $47,024,514.08 worth of marijuana and marijuana products in June, This brings the state’s year-to-date total to $286,670,851, an 8% increase from the same period in 2024.

Of the June total, $35,820,868.69 came from adult-use sales, while medical sales accounted for $11,203,645.43, according to new data released by the state’s Regulation and Licensing Department. Since adult-use marijuana sales launched in April 2022, New Mexico has recorded $1,790,878,664.82 in total marijuana sales across 39,900,546 transactions. That includes $1.27 billion in adult-use sales and $519.6 million from the medical market.

Albuquerque remains by far the state’s largest marijuana market, with over $574 million in total sales. Sunland Park ranks second with nearly $140 million, followed by Las Cruces at $121 million and Santa Fe at $120 million.

Recreational marijuana became legal in New Mexico through the Cannabis Regulation Act, signed into law in 2021. Adults 21 and older may legally purchase marijuana products and cultivate up to six mature plants individually or 12 per household. Adult-use purchases are taxed at 12%, increasing annually until it reaches 18% by 2030, while medical marijuana remains exempt from excise tax.
