Kamala Harris Says Joe Rogan Lied About Her Stance on Marijuana Discussion

Kamala Harris is pushing back on claims made by Joe Rogan, saying the podcaster “lied” when he suggested she refused to discuss marijuana legalization during the 2024 campaign.

In her new book, 107 Days, Harris says her team actually pitched cannabis as one of the main topics.

The book, released Tuesday, recounts her whirlwind presidential run after Joe Biden dropped out of the race. Harris says her staff proposed issues like marijuana, social media censorship, and cryptocurrency for a potential Rogan appearance, but his team narrowed the focus to the economy, immigration, and abortion.

After the election, which secured Donald Trump’s second term, Rogan told listeners Harris “didn’t want to talk about marijuana legalization.” He later said he found her supposed reluctance “hilarious,” but Harris writes that the opposite was true. She accuses Rogan of lying to his audience by claiming she wanted strict topic limits.

The interview never happened, with Harris citing scheduling problems and Rogan’s refusal to record outside his Austin studio. She also writes that on a day her campaign suggested in October, Rogan’s team said he was taking a personal day—only for her to later learn he was recording an episode with Trump.

Her version of events directly contradicts Rogan’s account, including his comments on-air when comedian Adrienne Iapalucci asked why Harris wouldn’t want to talk about marijuana.
