New Mexico’s marijuana market recorded another strong month in November, reaching $45.9 million in combined sales, pushing all-time revenue above $2 billion.
According to new data from the Cannabis Control Division, retailers sold $35.8 million in adult-use marijuana and $10.1 million in medical products during November. Consumers made 814,229 total purchases, including 686,393 recreational transactions and 204,821 medical transactions.
With November added, New Mexico has now generated more than $520 million in legal marijuana sales so far in 2025, surpassing the half-billion mark one month earlier than last year.
The state’s all-time totals have now crossed $2.02 billion, including $1.45 billion in adult-use sales and $572.7 million from medical marijuana since the market launched in April 2022. Total recorded transactions now exceed 45 million.
New Mexico legalized recreational marijuana in 2021, with licensed sales beginning in April 2022. Adults 21 and older may possess up to two ounces of marijuana, 16 grams of concentrate and 800 milligrams of edibles, with home cultivation also allowed.
Marijuana sales are subject to a 12% excise tax in addition to gross receipts taxes, with the excise rate scheduled to slowly increase to 18% by 2030. Revenue from the excise tax is split between the state’s general fund and local governments.
New Mexico’s strong November performance keeps the state on pace to comfortably exceed last year’s sales totals, continuing steady year-over-year growth in one of the country’s most active regional markets.
