New Mexico’s legal marijuana market generated $48.4 million in combined sales during December, pushing the state’s total for 2025 to roughly $568 million.
According to newly released data from the state’s Cannabis Control Division, adult-use marijuana accounted for $37.9 million of December sales, while medical marijuana added $10.5 million. Consumers completed just under 1.2 million transactions during the month, including about 986,000 adult-use purchases and more than 211,000 medical transactions.
With December added to the sales recorded through November, New Mexico’s legal marijuana market finished 2025 at approximately $568 million in total sales. That places the year comfortably ahead of 2024 ($540 million), continuing a pattern of steady growth as the state’s adult-use market matures.
The latest figures show New Mexico’s all-time marijuana sales have now surpassed $2.07 billion since licensed recreational sales began in April 2022. That total includes about $1.49 billion in adult-use sales and roughly $583 million from medical marijuana. Cumulative transactions across both markets have now climbed past 46 million.
Adult-use marijuana has consistently driven the bulk of sales in New Mexico, particularly in larger population centers such as Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Santa Fe, while the medical program continues to maintain a sizable and stable patient base.
New Mexico voters legalized recreational marijuana in 2021, with sales launching the following year. Adults 21 and older are allowed to purchase and possess marijuana from licensed retailers, with home cultivation also allowed under state law.
