The U.S. Cannabis Roundtable, one of the nation’s leading marijuana industry groups, says it remains in communication with the White House, saying they’re “optimistic about the president acting on cannabis perform”.

White House.
David Culver, senior vice president of public affairs for the U.S. Cannabis Roundtable, says the group has been told marijuana remains on President Donald Trump’s agenda.
“We were told very clearly at the beginning of this year that we’re going to have to wait our turn,” said Culver. “The big question is, when is this going to occur?”
Although the DEA’s move to rescheduling marijuana has been put on hold, Culver said the decision was expected and should not be viewed as the end of the road. He believes the agency is waiting on direct guidance from the president before making a move.
“While the ball remains in the DEA’s court, I think that they’re going to need to get direction from the president in order for rescheduling to occur”, said Culver. “And I’m still optimistic about the president acting on cannabis perform.”
According to Culver, Trump’s transition team brought out a whiteboard, they put their top 10 priorities together for the first 100 days, and then they made a list of the next 90, “and we’re in there,” Culver said, referring to the cannabis industry. “But again, it’s like, when are they going to get to the second tier of issues that they want to work on? And we’re going to have to be patient. And being patient is especially difficult when you’re facing a very tough business environment.”
