World Cannabis Tourism Day Summit to Launch September 27, Free to the Public

The first-ever World Cannabis Tourism Day will be marked this Saturday, September 27, with a free global webinar summit bringing together voices from more than a dozen countries.

The Canadian Cannabis Tourism Alliance, the Cannabis & Hemp Global Travel Network, and KGLTV are hosting the event, which coincides with the United Nations’ World Tourism Day and its 2025 theme, “Tourism and Peace.” The organizers say the observance will be held annually on September 27, highlighting cannabis tourism as a driver of cultural exchange, economic opportunity, and community connection.

The inaugural summit will run virtually from 12:00 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. EST. It will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, and cultural spotlights designed to showcase the role marijuana tourism is playing across industries such as travel, hospitality, wellness, and culture. More than 40 invited participants from over 12 countries are expected, including policymakers, business leaders, academics, and cultural advocates.

Panel topics will cover regulation, sustainability, economic impacts, and wellness travel, while cultural contributions will spotlight the heritage and artistry tied to cannabis. Organizers emphasize that attendees can join selectively for the sessions most relevant to them rather than staying for the full four hours.

The observance also recognizes the work of cannabis travel advocate Brian Applegarth, whose efforts in the industry have been credited with inspiring the creation of the day.

Founded in 2022, the Canadian Cannabis Tourism Alliance has been at the forefront of organizing stakeholders across Canada. It partnered with the Cannabis & Hemp Global Travel Network, a worldwide hub for marijuana and hemp travel initiatives, and KGLTV Media to launch what they say will be an annual tradition.
