Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Rashee Rice Gets 30 Days in Jail After Positive THC Test

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been ordered to spend 30 days in jail after violating his probation by testing positive for THC.

Rice was booked into the Dallas County Jail on Tuesday, according to jail records. The timing could keep him away from the Chiefs throughout organized team activities and mandatory minicamp if he remains in custody for the full 30 days.

The probation stems from a 2024 multi-car crash in Dallas, where authorities said Rice was involved in racing on a highway. He later reached a plea agreement that placed him on five years of probation and required him to serve 30 days in jail at some point during that period.

The NFL also suspended Rice for six games in connection with the crash.

Rice, 26, is facing additional legal issues. A lawsuit related to the street-racing crash is scheduled to go to trial June 9. In a separate matter, a former girlfriend has sued Rice, accusing him of domestic violence.

The Chiefs selected Rice in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He has been one of Kansas City’s top offensive playmakers when available, but injuries, a league suspension and now the probation violation have continued to limit his availability.
