Ohio’s combined medical and adult-use marijuana sales have surpassed $4 billion, according to an updated report released August 6 by the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control.
The state has recorded $4,069,854,550 in total marijuana product sales, although the sales figures in the report run through July 11. That includes $1,677,325,528 in adult-use sales since recreational purchases began in 2024 and $2,392,527,112 in medical marijuana sales.
Adult-use purchases now account for about 41% of Ohio’s all-time marijuana sales despite the recreational market operating for less than two years.
Ohio dispensaries have completed more than 46.2 million transactions, including approximately 24.7 million adult-use receipts and 21.5 million medical marijuana receipts.
Consumers have purchased a combined 627,774 pounds of marijuana flower, consisting of 267,590 pounds sold through the adult-use market and 359,704 pounds sold to medical patients. Dispensaries have also sold more than 66.6 million units of manufactured marijuana products, including approximately 32.6 million adult-use units and 34 million medical units.
Marijuana flower currently sales for an average of $18.82 per one-tenth of an ounce, equivalent to $6.65 per gram. Manufactured products sold for an average of $24.88.
The updated report shows Ohio has 223 dispensaries authorized to serve both medical patients and adult-use consumers, along with 57 dispensaries holding provisional licenses. The industry also includes 37 operational cultivators, 45 processors and six testing laboratories.
The state lists 473,834 registered medical marijuana patients, although just 73,540 had both an active registration and an active physician recommendation. A total of 467,332 unique patients had purchased medical marijuana as of July 15.
Ohio also has 42,804 registered caregivers and 499 physicians authorized to recommend medical marijuana. Among registered patients, 26,341 have veteran status, 27,118 have indigent status and 1,580 have a terminal diagnosis.
