The New Jersey Assembly just overwhelmingly passed a bill that would allow medical marijuana dispensaries to establish satellite locations.

Assembly Bill 4937, sponsored by Representative Reginald Atkins (D) and backed by several Democratic lawmakers, received a 61 to 14 vote in the Assembly today. The measure had previously passed the Senate by a vote of 33 to 3.
The bill would remove existing restrictions that prohibit medical marijuana dispensaries from operating more than one location. If signed into law, the change would allow dispensaries—particularly those originally licensed under the state’s pre-legalization alternative treatment center program—to expand to additional sites with approval from the Cannabis Regulatory Commission.
Supporters say the measure will improve patient access by enabling dispensaries to serve more regions without requiring a new full license. The proposal cleared two Assembly committees earlier this month, including the Appropriations Committee on June 19.
Having now passed both chambers, AB 4937 awaits action from Governor Phil Murphy.
