Rhode Island Marijuana Sales Reach $58.18 Million in First Half of 2025

Rhode Island marijuana stores sold $9.72 million worth of product in June, bringing the year-to-date total to $58,184,056.

That figure is nearly identical to the $58.57 million generated during the same period last year and marks an increase from the $50.27 million sold in 2023, demonstrating strong market resilience. Sales figures were provided by the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation.

In June, adult-use transactions accounted for $8.19 million in sales, while medical marijuana brought in $1.52 million. The average transaction was $34.95.

So far in 2025, pre-packaged bud remains the top-selling category, with $25.26 million in combined adult-use and medical purchases. Raw pre-rolls followed with $11.35 million, while vape cartridges reached $9.57 million. Edibles contributed $7.07 million, and concentrates sold by the unit totaled $2.55 million.

Additional categories such as infused pre-rolls, tinctures, topicals, and non-edible infused products made up a smaller share of overall sales, with seeds contributing no measurable revenue so far this year.

Marijuana purchases for adult use are taxed at 10% in addition to Rhode Island’s 7% state sales tax and optional local taxes of up to 3%. Medical marijuana purchases are exempt from the excise tax. Revenue supports the state’s General Fund, Social Equity Assistance Fund, and municipalities that host marijuana stores.

Adults 21 and older may legally purchase up to one ounce at a time and grow up to 12 plants for personal use.
