Legal marijuana sales in the United States held steady at around $2.17 billion in June, maintaining the industry’s strong pace so far in 2025.

California led all states with $300.7 million in legal marijuana sales in June, slightly below May’s total of $307.6 million. Michigan followed with $268 million, while Illinois recorded $164 million, both modest increases over May’s sales.
The nationwide total in June remains close to the $2.2 billion reported in May and April. That brings year-to-date legal marijuana sales to nearly $13 billion, based on figures from state agencies and industry research firm Headset. The numbers include all states with recreational marijuana sales, along with medical-only sales in Florida, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Delaware, Minnesota and Virginia are excluded due to a lack of active recreational sales. Most medical-only states are also not included due to unavailable or incomplete data.
