Ohio’s legal marijuana market has generated more than $4.15 billion in sales since medical sales began in 2019, including approximately $777 million during the first seven months of 2026, according to data from the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control. This marks a roughly 28% increase from the $605 million sold during the same period in 2025.
State figures show total product sales reached $4,152,277,885 as of August 21. Of that amount, $1.749 billion came from non-medical marijuana and $2.403 billion from medical marijuana.
Cumulative sales were $3.385 billion on January 3, meaning Ohio retailers sold about $777 million worth of marijuana from January 3 through August 21.
Approximately $666 million of this year’s sales came from the non-medical market, while around $111 million came from medical marijuana purchases.
According to the Division of Cannabis Control’s latest report, Ohio’s legal marijuana industry currently includes 37 operating cultivators, 45 processors, six testing laboratories and 227 dual-use dispensaries. The state also lists 50 additional dispensaries with provisional licenses, meaning they have not yet received final approval to begin operating.
Ohio launched medical marijuana sales on January 14, 2019, while the state’s first non-medical sales began August 6, 2024.
The Division of Cannabis Control also reports that, through August 1, consumers had purchased more than 640,000 pounds of plant material and 68.4 million units of manufactured marijuana products. The state recorded more than 47.4 million total receipts over the life of the legal market.
