June Cannabis Sales in Canada Pass CA$480 Million, Bringing Year-to-Date Sales Above CA$2.7 Billion

Canada’s legal marijuana industry generated CA$480.2 million in sales during June, according to newly released figures from Statistics Canada.

Given that Statistics Canada adjusted May’s total to be CA$479, down from the reported CA$485 million, this makes June’s CA$480.2 million the second highest monthly total in the nation’s history. June’s total reflects the market’s continued strength, pushing year-to-date revenue well past CA$2.7 billion.

Ontario once again accounted for the largest share of sales, bringing in CA$190.85 million. Alberta followed with CA$85 million, while British Columbia reported CA$68.3 million and Quebec CA$65.7 million. Combined, those four provinces were responsible for nearly 86% of nationwide cannabis revenue in June.

The numbers highlight both the resilience and growth trajectory of Canada’s marijuana market since legalization took effect in 2019. With over 4,150 licensed retailers now operating across the country, consumers have continued to drive record-setting demand. Federal rules allow adults to purchase marijuana products and to grow up to four plants at home, with both provincial and federal taxes applied to sales.

Industry analysts note that Canada has now posted back-to-back months exceeding CA$480 million in sales, signaling that demand remains strong even amid economic pressures. If the current pace continues, 2025 could set another annual record for legal cannabis revenue nationwide.
