Oklahoma Marijuana Legalization Campaign Surpasses 300 Petition Locations

Oklahoma’s campaign to legalize recreational marijuana continues to hit the ground running, with petitions now available for signing at over 300 locations across the state.

In less than a week, Oklahomans for Responsible Cannabis Action has added more than 100 new sites, underscoring the fast-growing momentum behind the effort.

The proposal, State Question 837, would allow individuals 21 and older to legally possess and purchase marijuana, as well as grow up to 12 plants for personal use. It would also establish a licensed system of marijuana retailers, taxed at 10% on recreational sales.

Organizers must gather roughly 173,000 valid signatures by early November to qualify for the November 2026 ballot. To achieve this, the campaign has worked quickly to build a statewide network of signing locations, ensuring that nearly every community has easy access. Volunteers and business owners have played a central role, offering prime space for petitions and encouraging participation.

Supporters say the rapid expansion to more than 300 locations is crucial for meeting the state’s in-person signature rules, which does not allow individuals to sign online.

If approved, Oklahoma would become the 25th state to legalize recreational marijuana, a move that would build on its medical cannabis program, which remains one of the most robust in the nation.
