Missouri’s legal marijuana market posted $127.63 million in October sales, bringing the year-to-date total to $1.26 billion.
Data released today by the Department of Health and Senior Services shows that adult-use sales reached $113.43 million for the month, continuing to make up the vast majority of overall revenue. Medical marijuana added $14.20 million, keeping patient sales steady even as recreational purchases dominate month after month. The combined total surpassed the roughly $123 million sold in October 2024, despite broader price declines seen this year.
With October added in, Missouri marijuana retailers have now recorded $1.26 billion in sales so far in 2025. This is a nearly 15% increase over the $1.1 billion sold during the same period in 2024, putting the state on track for a record-breaking year.
Since the launch of medical sales in 2020 and the opening of adult-use stores in February 2023, Missouri’s marijuana market has reached $4.66 billion in cumulative sales. Adult-use continues to comprise close to 90% of monthly revenue, underscoring how quickly the voter-approved recreational system has reshaped the industry.
Tax revenue generated from recreational purchases, which carry a 6% state excise tax in addition to standard state and local sales taxes, continues to support veterans’ services, public health efforts, and substance abuse treatment. Since the start of recreational sales, the state has generated nearly half a billion dollars in tax revenue, not counting taxes garnered by localities.
