A recent Bigfoot sighting in Michigan has stirred up buzz across Monroe County—and now, a local marijuana shop is offering a reward for proof of the elusive creature.
According to a report from the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, the sighting occurred on May 18 near Laplaisance Road. A 47-year-old man named Edward said he was bow fishing with his 12-year-old son when they heard something large crash to the ground from a tree. He described seeing a “big, heavy animal” that crouched and then moved toward them before fleeing into the woods.
Edward’s dog reportedly chased the creature up a slope before being called back. The father and son told Bigfoot researcher Matt Moneymaker that the creature was roughly six feet tall, covered in dark fur, and moved on two legs in a hunched posture.
“It was as big as a bear but looked like a gorilla,” the boy is quoted as saying in the report.
Though the encounter lasted just a few seconds and no photos were taken, word of the sighting quickly spread beyond the area. One Monroe resident said he even heard about it while visiting Maryland.
In response to the viral attention, Uniq Cannabis in Monroe has posted a sign outside their store offering a free pre-roll to anyone who brings in photo evidence of Bigfoot. While no such proof has yet surfaced, the promotion has sparked interest from curious locals and skeptics alike.
Longtime residents say this isn’t the first time Monroe has had a brush with the paranormal. Stories of a so-called “Monroe Monster” date back to the 1960s.
